‘Magnificent, ingenious and original’ are the words I choose when talking about Paul Shriek’s costumes. As Artistic Director of National Dance Company Wales, Shriek designed and made many wonderful costumes including the celebrated Seven Deadly Sins with Welsh National Opera. Shriek is an artist who creates a unique world with couture clothes for a theatrical setting.

"Flights of Fancy was our third wonderful co-production from the talented Paul Shriek and Mr Fox. Full of great ideas and costumes that were perfectly pitched for the occasion, the performers loved working with them and the audience got all the wow factor it needed from seeing the work of such great designers"

"When I first met Paul Shriek I was working in TV and he was the ‘enfant terrible’ of the fashion world, with a top-selling concession in Topshop. This was in the days before he became fashion consultant for The Tube or costume designer for a national dance company. At one point, in his role as course leader on a national fashion course, I remember he sent his students home to change as he was appalled at how they imagined they were ever going to ‘make it’ dressed in such a boring fashion!

Paul was passionate about the North East before any marketing gurus had come up with the slogan! Paul has never just ‘delivered’ anything in his life, he has only ever created with a passion. Ask him what he does, he will answer: “I make frocks.” Yeah right. And anything else he turns his hand to, with panache and significance - a winning combination.

Apart from being talented, focused and a consummate professional, Paul is also a great ‘person’ to have around, with a spirit lifting demeanour and an hilarious sense of humour."
